The QGIS User Group Switzerland is an association of Quantum GIS (QGIS) users in Switzerland. The QGIS User Group constitutes as an association (Verein im Sinne des Schweizerischen Zivilgesetzbuches (Art. 60-79 ZGB)).

Goals and Activities of the User Group

• Coordination of QGIS developments and available financial resources for features that are of interest to Swiss QGIS users
• Marketing of QGIS within Switzerland, e.g. through orientations, case studies, informative meetings or articles in GIS related media
• Organization of the annual Swiss QGIS user meeting
• Initialization of the Development of QGIS based application modules (e.g. underground cadastre, surveying, urban planning, waste-water/GEP, etc.)
• Information about current developments and initiatives to the members of the association
• Support of research or studies around QGIS and related OSGeo projects
• Sponsoring of the general QGIS project and community

Membership Application

If you are interested in joining the QGIS user group Switzerland as a new member, please download the application form (german version | french version), fill in the desired membership category and contact information. You should also download and read the "Statutes of the QGIS Uer Group Switzerland" as you need to approve them by joining the group (currently we have only an english version). Please send the signed application by fax, email or by regular mail to the address specified in the form.

The following four membership categories are available (membership fees are per year):

• Larger collective members (canton/province, company with >10employees, city >100000 inhabitants): CHF 500.-
• Smaller collective members (company with <= 10 employees, city <= 100000 inhabitants, universities): CHF 300.-
• Individual (private members): CHF 100.-
• Student members: CHF 50.-

Member Area

There is a restricted member area available for project coordination, discussion, issue tracking and a Wiki. To get access to the restricted site please create an OSGeo login (if you do not have one already) and send the OSGeo login name to the contact information above. The provided login will then be activated for access to the membership area. Also, please login at least once to http://hub.qgis.org/ (if you haven't so far) - as this activates the OSGeo login also for hub.qgis.org
